From August 16 through September 28 the 7th International Forest Art Path will be held around Böllenfalltor and Ludwigshöhe in Darmstadt Forest. The theme this time is ‘Art Biotopes’. For three weeks, 17 international artists will address biotopes as the living environment of animals, plants, people and artists, and will set up their ‘Art Biotopes’ along the 2.6-kilometer forest art path. The opening ceremony will be on Saturday August 16 at 3 p.m. at Ludwigshöhe.
At the Wednesday Forum at Osthang, the participating artists will present their work complexes and the Darmstadt works. Tim Norris, for example, is working on a ‘Habitat’ project, while Piet Trantel investigates the relationship between man and dogs. The subsequent Wednesday Forums on July 30 and August 6 will be held in the International Forest Art Center.

Every two years the music of our time is for two weeks in the focus almost around the clock. » OPEN SPACE
With OPEN SPACE a project of the Darmstadt Summer Course will be transferred to the Osthang: The OPEN SPACE is a tool for self-motorized exchange and self-organized knowledge transfer which had lots of response during the Darmstadt Summer Course 2010 and 2012. It was initiated in cooperation with Berno Odo Polzer who is one of the Osthang Project curators this year. In 2014, OPEN SPACE will have an additional venue in the temporary buildings of the Osthang Project, but is not only designed for participants of the Summer Course: Regardless of whether you are a Summer Course musician, Darmstadt citizen, visitor of the city or partner of the Summer of Architecture: If you want to organize your own public meeting, discussion or talk, give a lecture, present a work or thought, play musical recordings, screen a film, or propose other public events, the OPEN SPACE rooms offer the framework to do so at pre-defined times. OPEN SPACE is set up as an autonomous public zone, a platform for self-organized exchange complementary to the curated program of the Osthang Project and the International Summer Course.
A calendar on place will inform about the planned OPEN SPACE activities – also, please sign up for a certain time frame at the Osthang schedule.
