The Dialogue 3 will be an exchange between the Italian collective orizzontale, based in Rome, and modulorbeat, the German-based practice of Marc Günnewig and Jan Kampshoff about the potentiality of urban temporary interventions.
Orizzontale’s main focus is on the reactivation of places and materials that are forgotten within the metropolitan productive cycle. Their interventions allow the dismissed and the residual – including both wastes materials and places – to be recognized, seen, and lived, giving it another meaning and another chance. This process activates collaborative ‘public acts’, experimenting with new kinds of interactions between city dwellers and urban commons, as well as occasions to test the boundaries of the architectural creation process.Modulorbeat – from Münster – is dedicated to the development and realization of interdisciplinary projects in the fields of architecture, design and urbanism, challenging the strict bounderies of the architectural discipline. Their practice concerns the power and effectiveness which can arise from a short-lived process or intervention. It is best known for temporary buildings such as the Switch+ information centre, a temporary booth designed for an outdoor sculpture exhibition in Münster in 2007 and Kubik, in which 1000 litre water tanks were used to create an itinerant night club.

Osthang dialogs as dinner talks: There will be five public presentation and debating evenings, where at each two of the architects collectives will present their ideas on experimental building, reflect on the architectural cultural heritage of the Mathildenhöhe and put their joint effort for the Osthang Project up for debate. The dialogs enable all the locals and anyone interested to actively take part in the Osthang Project building process. There will also be keynotes by architects and theorists on experimental building and the Mathildenhöhe artists’ colony.
